Why We Protect First

Construction happens. Dust travels. Our job is to contain it before it becomes your problem.

Construction Dust Travels

Drywall dust, wood shavings, and old caulk particles spread further than you'd expect. Full coverage means zero cleanup surprises.

Your Floors Are Vulnerable

One dropped shim or dragged tool can scratch hardwood or gouge vinyl. We lay heavy-duty drop cloths and plywood runners on high-traffic paths.

Furniture & Appliances

Kitchen counters, couches near windows, electronics — all draped and sealed before any demolition begins.

What SAWDAC Requires

PPE Requirements

  • Workers must wear appropriate clothing: pants, shirts, safety boots, hard hats, gloves
  • Lined hard hats and insulated gloves for Calgary winter installations
  • Construction-grade ladders meeting CSA standards — no damaged or extension ladders per Ontario Ministry of Labour guidelines (adopted nationwide)

Floor & Surface Protection

  • Tarps on all floors to collect debris
  • Garbage pails and vacuum cleaners positioned for immediate cleanup
  • Furniture, curtains, blinds removed or fully draped before any access to window casing
  • Interior finishes (paint, wallpaper, drywall) protected — cuts along casing/wall joints to avoid pulling away finishes

Cold-Weather Considerations (Calgary-Specific)

  • Building occupants must be able to remain comfortable indoors during winter installs
  • Sealants become stiff and hard to pump in cold — kept warm before application
  • One-component polyurethane foam won't froth as much in cold, takes longer to cure, risk of delayed expansion and frame bowing
  • Material adjustments made for sub-zero Calgary temperatures
